There's such an easy intimacy between these two men and every time they come up against one another I am left with a silly grin on my face. Merlin waiting up for the prince, sharing a couch and Arthur's normal life and smiles and friendship should be odd but instead it feels completely right.

I loved the detail of Merlin waking Arthur up and finding him sleep scruffy standing by the royal coat rack with all those coats Merlin had seen in magazines! Merlin spilling the beans about handkerchief man was mortifying. Merlin of the magic and twiggy tea and bouts of anonymous sex in club loos has no sense of self preservation at all. It's incredibly endearing. It's no wonder Arthur is endeared.
